Statement from Tom Ehman, Golden Gate Yacht Club spokesman
[Source: BMW Oracle] The New York Supreme Court has now set a date of February 25 to hear the “constructed in country” case over the American made sails to be used by Alinghi 5.
Team Alinghi is the Société Nautique de Geneve’s defender for the 33rd America’s Cup against GGYC’s team BMW ORACLE Racing for the Match starting in Valencia on Monday.
“We would have preferred that the question mark over Alinghi’s sails had not become a question mark hanging over the result of the 33rd Match,” commented GGYC spokesman Tom Ehman.
The Deed of Gift, the ruling document of the America’s Cup, requires the competing yachts to be powered by sails and constructed in the country they represent.
“Since we have been unable to get them to sign the agreement negotiated in Singapore, the best way to resolve this issue is for our yacht USA to beat Alinghi 5 on the water,” added Ehman.
“Race 1 is imminent. With normal sailing breezes, we like our chances in the coming Match.”

Yes, please race. Then we will know who has been defeated and takes the other to court (Wing=Sail, Groupama Copy, German Engine, Italian hydraulic System or Vessel incl. sails, sails made USA/Switzerland).
tom you finally got it, go racing and butt out so the boats do the talking
Tom, it's enough, enough and enough.
I vomit!
BMW stop this man!
Yawn - more rubbish from Ehman. Get on and sail.
what an idiot!
what a looser he is...not much more to say about this sad person...
Lets see now! If USA wins, SNG goes back to Court about USA's Motors. If SNG wins, USA goes to Court for the Sails and then the Motors. Glad this is an Exibition of Technology. If nothing else We should all get to see Technology Work, and See the Two Crews Hang It Out There. Any Guess's on Who's getting the Olympic Gold in 2 and 4 Man Bobsled?
Tell me is Russell still part of their team ??
BMW,
what I really want to know is how can your comnpany support this campaign and this man...
Tom, it's time for a new CD! That one (Alinghi sails! American! Alinghi sails! American! Alinghi sails! American! Unfair! Unfair! Unfair!) is getting more and more annoying!
Valencia Sailing, do not publish any statement by Tom in future times, please!
If Ernesto Bertarelly stears Alinghi, then Larry Ellison should stear his boat UAS too, this is what we expect from gentlemen! Would be nice after all this time we had to wait for. And see each other on the water - definitely better place than the NYSC.
I can't see any wrong in Mr Ehmans statement and I not understand why some people get so excited and angry about him. You need all ralx a little!
Hublot,
what I really want to know is how can your comnpany support this campaign and this man...
I go for AUDI A5
LOL
George will be spinning in his grave if there is a lawsuit over the AC winner regarding the CIC status of its ENGINE, Just when you thought you had seen it all
I personally like Tom's comments, BMW should be proud to sponsor the team that will win the cup.

It does not seem to me that any one of the involved are behaving like gentlemen. Otherwise nobody would run to some 'greater authority' asking who is right or wrong but one would sit down and negotiate from man to man. And ultimately accept the challenge without whining or not challenge at all.
The Deed of Gift, the ruling document of the America’s Cup, requires the competing yachts to be powered by SAILS not WING and constructed in the country they represent. You will never get it...
Is this Ehmans slant on what Coutts and Ellison have told him to say, " If we win on the water we win if we don't we don't" Or is a typically vague and worthless bit of spin from the master(bater)?
Taking a 45' motor yacht out Monday and Wednesday to spectate off Valencia.
Looking for folks to share costs.

If I am remembering correctly, BMW Oracle was the challenger of record for the 32nd America's Cup? If that is the case, what happened? How can it be that two teams work so well together to bring us such a great event, but a few years later can't agree on anything?
I am remembering incorrectly?
@ 11:18
bor did not win
BORAMA will not wind
What for a shit "normal sailing breezes"! Nothing is normal in the BORAM Team! Ellison and Russell will not sail! They want to win on a chair discuting with their lowers! Grat people!!!
