San Francisco Mayor Applauds Port Commission Approval Of City’s Host Agreement For 34th America’s Cup
[Source: San Francisco Mayor's Office] Mayor Gavin Newsom today issued the following statement after the Port Commission voted unanimously to approve the resolution supporting the Host City and Venue Agreement for hosting the 34th America’s Cup in San Francisco:
“The Port Commission today reaffirmed that San Francisco is the best place on earth to defend the America’s Cup and bring a potential $1.4 billion economic boost to the region. The public and community enthusiasm for hosting the America’s Cup has been tremendous, demonstrated at the Port Commission today by the broad support for the bid from local residents, merchants, union representatives and maritime enthusiasts.
With both the Host City Agreement and the Northern Waterfront Agreement being advanced to the full Board, we are providing opportunities to improve the spectator experience and increase the public benefit. I want to thank Port Executive Director Monique Moyer and the Port Commission for their commitment to bring the America’s Cup to the San Francisco Bay and all the economic benefits, jobs and excitement that come with it.”
On Wednesday, December 8, the Board of Supervisors’ Budget and Finance Committee is expected to consider a resolution in support of the Host City and Venue Agreement.

Is there any public discussion about the cup going to Italy coming from the Italians. Was this just something made up to make San Fran work harder thinking there could be other options?
Get ready for Ru$$ell's "34th Real Estate Cup" in San Francisco. Isn't that a breach of fiduciary duty? It's funny though, they are doing EXACTLY what they accused Ernesto of doing...
1,4 Billion in only 4 month race time in 2013?
Whow they will have to charge 11231,81 US for one Burger and a Coke to meet this targets
Wonderfull, to read that things are moving and that the venue issue finally seems to be mostly sorted out. SF, what an exciting location for AC34! I definitely will be there in 2013 to wittness this spectacle.

Aslong as Newsom is ok to dream about economic impact, all good. But people are fooled here.
