Video: The world's fastest sailing yacht blasts two speed records

The absolute speed record fell, the Hydroptère broke the mythical barrier of 50 knots.

On Friday, September 4th, the Hydroptère received the title of the fastest sailboat on the planet for 500 meters and one nautical mile, achieved off Hyères.

An average speed of 51.36 knots over 500 meters and 48.72 knots over a nautical mile now become the two new records to beat (subject to ratification from the WSSRC).
