Luna Rossa - Desafío Español 2007 : 1 - 0

The Spanish team was another victim of strong winds during Friday's races. Desafío Español started ahead of their rivals and sped away during the first leg, rounding the top mark 44 ahead of Luna Rossa. The Italians managed to recover all lost space and were 18 seconds ahead at the beginning of the fourth leg. Halfway through the last leg, the boom of the Spanish boat ESP 67 broke, forcing the team to retire.

The Spaniards could have produced the day's second upset, but after all what counts is the final outcome. Having excellent sailors might be an important advantage but the boat has to be equally well built.
