BMW Oracle Racing to race with USA-87!!!!

Undoubtedly, the news of the day, probably of Louis Vuitton Act 10.

During his early morning press conference, Chris Dickson, CEO and skipper of BMW Oracle Racing, announced that the team had just received the confirmation email from Ken McAlpine, chief measurer, that USA-87 passed all measurements and was accepted as an America's Cup Class yacht. He immediately went on to state that as of now USA-87 will their racing boat and will start her maiden fights tomorrow.

The Challenger of Record of the 32nd America´s Cup had registered their older boat USA-76 as the one to race in Louis vuitton Act 10 while USA-87 was scheduled to start her official racing in Act 11. Given Dickson's announcement it is now clear the team had the intention to race from the beginning but were waiting for the official clearance that indeed USA-87 was an America's Cup class yacht.

As the official rules allow teams to change their yachts up to 24 hours before racing starts, the American challenger did not waste a minute.

No other extraordinary news was announced but Dickson gave an interesting view on Alinghi's strategy as well his take on the new boats from Luna Rossa and Emirates Team New Zealand.

It certainly is going to be an absolutely exciting race!!

This article will be updated later on during Wednesday as yours truly has to rush to the Skipper conference.
