USA-87 up close

Friday was the first official racing day when a jumperless mast was used on USA-87. BMW Oracle's older boat, USA-76, has sailed a number of times with such a rig but only during the team's spring training season in Valencia.

As far as the secrets that USA-87 hold under her water line, we think it is clear she has a rudder. Although we haven't been able to shoot a clear picture so far, it seems there is a conventional keel. Last but certainly not least, it remains to be seen whether it will also be possible to take a clear picture of the bow rudder.
