Live tracking of TP52 racing at the Athens Trophy

The Athens Trophy, fifth and penultimate event of the 2006 Breitling MedCup, started earlier today off the coast of the Greek capital. According to the latest report, one race has been completed after a handful of recalls due to very light and shifty conditions.

The great innovation in this regatta is the possibility to track the boats racing on Google Earth, almost real-time, as GPS data is updated every minute. All you need is to have the Google Earth program installed on your computer and the rest will be done automatically. Google Earth is free and can be downloaded at http://earth.google.com

In order to access the race tracking feature just click on the banner we have created for that purpose on the right-hand column of the website. Depending on your system or browser, clicking on the banner will either launch the file automatically or will ask you to open it using Google Earth, in which case you click on "Yes". Once Google Earth open, you can zoom in or out or move around. The buoys are also marked on the map, making it easier to follow the race.
