The GP42 season starts in full earnest in Valencia - Read www.gp42.net

After last month's initial regatta in Croatia, the rapidly-growing GP42 class will start its maiden racing season in full earnest right here in Valencia.

Starting Thursday, 12 July, a total of 10 boats will compete in the Trofeo de la Reina, organized by the Valencia Yacht Club. The regatta will end on Saturday and the total number of races will be five. The Trofeo de la Reina counts towards the 2007 GP42 International Championship, as do the Copa del Rey in Palma and the Trofeu Quebramar in Cascais.

Being the editor of the official GP42 website (www.gp42.net), I will not be able to cover these events for Valencia Sailing. As a result, check the class website for the usual in-depth coverage.

Valencia Sailing's normal activities will resume on Saturday evening and we will shortly feature an exclusive interview. Our prominent guest will comment on the 32nd America's Cup and the Protocol of the 33rd edition, in particular the announced new yacht class. Stay tuned.
