Bruno Zirilli joins Desafío Español

[Source: Desafío Español] Bruno Zirilli (Milan, 1973) has signed with Desafío Español for the 33rd America’s Cup. Zirilli is a telecommunications engineer, has over 25 years of sailing experience and was navigator and boat electronics manager of +39 Challenge during the past edition of the America’s Cup.

Bruno Zirilli won the Italian championship of the Laser 5000 class in 1995 and the same year finished second in the Quarter Ton world championship. He has dedicated most of his career to the European IMS circuits on board “OPS Competition”, “CIesse Twin Soul” and “Orlanda”. Also, in 2006 and 2007 he participated in the TP52 circuit as navigator on board “Siemens” and “Patches”, and in the GP42 circuit on board “Roma”, the winning boat of the “Quebramar-Chrysler” regatta.

Bruno Zirilli, Antonio Piris and Nacho Braquehais are the three first new crew members of the Spanish challenge for the 33rd America’s Cup that also has Santiago López Vázquez, Laureano Wizner, Pedro Más, Jaime Arbones, Jorge Ondo, Gabriel de Llano, Fernando Sales, Marcos Iglesias, Carlo Castellano, Pablo Díaz-Munío, Iñigo Losada, Tony Rey, Iñaki Martínez, Miguel Jáuregui, Mauro Maiola, Pablo Rosano, Enrique Cameselle and Diego Guigou in its line up.

In the upcoming weeks the sailing team will be completed with new crew members.
