[Source: Golden Gate Yacht Club] Valencia, Spain 16 November: A majority of challengers in the next America’s Cup have formally joined with the Golden Gate Yacht Club to urge Alinghi to accept a joint proposal covering all outstanding points on the rules so that the event can go ahead in 2009.

In a settlement offer signed by four syndicates sent to Alinghi yesterday, GGYC confirmed it would drop its court case immediately if Alinghi accepts the proposal which had been worked out with the challengers.

“To get to this point we have made further big compromises. In particular, we have now dropped our call for two-boat testing, which Alinghi had cited as their major concern. We are confident this proposal deals with all outstanding points,” Tom Ehman, GGYC’s spokesman said.

The challengers and GGYC are urgently asking Alinghi to accept this offer as the basis for the event going ahead.

What about page #6 of GGYC's letter? I am interested to know the names of these three Challengers that agreed to this final compromise.

Well done Russell! you are not only a great sailor but you a real gentleman and a sportsman. Its great you have the Challengers behind you. It shows their desire to enjoy an America´s Cup with all it´s true colours!

If Alinghi doesn´t sign that protocol, then they should be thrown out for misbehaviour. The SNG should have second thoughts of allowing a man like Bertarelli carry their colours. The members of the Geneva yacht club are the Gotha of Swiss banking, business, finance and this whole mess will eventually fall back on them.

Lets go for a great 33 America´s Cup in Valencia in 2009, please

Alinghi rejects the proposal from Oracle, Team New zealand, Team Origin and Shosholoza.
It`s official, check the website of the Golden Gate Yacht Club.
These swiss people just want money and win again without any kind of sportmanship and gentleman.
RIDICULOUS!! They are not good trustees of the America`s Cup.
Let`s whats happen with the judge!! I hope Oracle will win.
