Ian Ainslie leading after second day of 5th Open de España Match Race in Calpe

[Source: Real Club Nautico Calpe] Again, the wind becomes the worst enemy for racers and organisation in Calpe, although it was possible to almost double the number of yesterday´ s races. The competition for the prize keeps being as tough as before, or even more.

A strong swell and a variable wind during the whole day made the race area conditions more difficult, forcing the racers to make a huge effort. The Tom 28 boats were brought to the maximum and the confrontations were spectacular.

Ian Ainslie (RSA) and Philippe Presti´s crews (FRA) moved up regarding yesterday´s results proving why they are in the World Ranking first positions. The former, won all except one of the matches they've competed what makes them move up to the first position. The French, after yesterday´s bad results and having won 4 of the 6 matches is now in fourth position. Yesterday´s first classified, Paolo Cian, loses his leadership beaten by Ian Ainslie and Philippe Presti.

Ian Ainslie is now leading the general results; Paolo Cian and Torvar Minsky are sharing the second position followed by Philippe Presti.

Manuel Weiller and Santiago López Vázquez, the Spanish hopes, are not achieving the expected results and are in the tenth and twelfth position respectively.
