Valencia and Alinghi sign deal on 2009 regattas

The city and Region of Valencia have finally reached an agreement and signed a deal on Wednesday morning on the 2009 regattas.

There will be two regattas this year, the first one from July 10 to 19 and the second one in October, at a date to be confirmed later this year.

The fee for the city is of 9 million euros per regatta while Alinghi must guarantee a minimum of 11 teams. For each team less, the city will see its fee decrease by 7%.

There will be a public announcement later on.

If the AC is going to a match in multihulls then how will Ernesto get 11 teams to go to these regattas in V5's? Why would they bother?

Could some of the money be used to PAY teams to go?

The last few days of the July regatta clash with the TP52 regatta. Most of the AC sailors compete in the 52's so that will be interesting
