GGYC refuses to meet America’s Cup Defender for talks on the 33rd event

[Source: Alinghi] The 33rd America's Cup defending yacht club, Société Nautique de Genève (SNG), regrets that the Challenger of Record, the Golden Gate Yacht Club (GGYC), rejected an invitation to resume talks on terms for the 33rd America's Cup. It also appears to have closed the door to other teams using its latest legal action to disregard Italian team Green Comm's challenge.

In a letter sent on 5 May, the SNG invited the GGYC to meet to continue discussions, including such areas as the date, the venue, the race format, the participation of other challengers and the presentation of the Custom-House Registry of vessel. To the SNG's disappointment, the GGYC responded simply by reminding the defending yacht club of the court hearing scheduled for the 14 May in New York.

The SNG plans to persevere with its appeal to GGYC to join its representatives around a table to discuss these matters face to face. The invitation to negotiate remains open.

Definitely a save face and back stepping letter for SNG for stating and putting in writing the May 2010 date and DoG only/no Mutual Consent

Once again SNG twists and turns their words to try to fool everyone that they are not the "villain" as GD calls them. All they are doing is twisting and turning in the wind as they slowly hang themselves from the yardarm of SNG. Sadly they still are failing to understanding their role as a Trustee and to act with respect towards the Deed.

Surely SNG would understand by now that their "numerous self-serving factual statements" lack the credibility like CNEV and the public see right through them. No, what does SNG do but create another poodle in the image of +39. A team who like CNEV has a questionable past.

SNG continues to try their smoke and mirrors by using the courts and poodles to delay the race. These ungenuine and uninnocents will continue to tighten the noose around their own necks until the courts say enough and finish the self sentence of SNG. A Trustee no more, written out of the records in disgrace with only theseselves to blame while the AC and sailing world moves on without them.

The judge said very clearly: Children, work it out! He didn't say: Come back and ask me every time you don't agree.

The court will not look at GGYCs behavior and refusal to discuss a protocol with the defender lightly.

No question that the court will find GGYC in contempt of court (and not Allinghi as some on these posters would like to make you believe).

SNG doesn't need to delay ANYTHING. The date is set for 2010. Their boat is ready, and any assumptions that they "need additional time" is just that ... a poor assumption. BOR miscalculated and have their entry finished too early; that's why they are panicking now!

Watch SNG kick Larry's butt next year. Just too bad that it will be without the participation of 18 other teams.

It's time that the sailing world locked Larry and Ernesto into a small room with no food, water or toilet and only let them out when the have sealed a deal.
There is no gain for any of us by taking sides, the problem sits with the two of them.

Locking those two up would never work ...... Ellison would never agree because he is afraid of EB, and he will sue you for leaving him alone with the evil man! ........ :)

The date is not set. The court says Feb. 2010 and Alinghi say May 2010. Where is it set?

As for boats and miscalculations: BMWO has tested a platform already. Alinghi hasn't. BMWO's boat is undergoing modifications, or a whole new boat is being finished. All seems calculated to me.
