Golden Gate Yacht Club replies to Circolo Vela Gargnano

Related PDF Document- Golden Gate Yacht Club replies to Circolo Vela Gargnano, dated 6 May 2009

It didn't take long for the Golden Gate Yacht Club to reply to the letter sent by the Circolo Vela Gargnano, the Italian yacht club that presented a challenge for the 33rd America's Cup.

In a very short letter, Marcus Young, GGYC Commodore, thanked his Italian counterpart and informed him that due to the ongoing litigation concerning this edition of the event, it would be "inappropriate" to comment any further before the litigation is resolved.

In any case, in exactly one week from now, an oral hearing will take place in New York before Justice Kornreich and for sure the Italians can wait that long.

Ducking and weaving. Why on earth can´t BOR at least acknowledge that they would be open to accept a challenger. Isnñt that what they have been saying all along? A multi challenger series.

As expected .... uncle Crazy Larry doesn't want any more Euro Poodles in "his challenge" ............

Why wouldnt GGYC comment? Didn't they say they wanted a Multi-Challenger event? Or did they not really mean it? Maybe because with multiple challengers the same fate may strike them again? Early elimination?

And that's a very scary thought for them ....

I remember the people from the other posts that the BOR Team was pretty clear on their proposal to Alinghi/SNG:

A Multi-Challenge regatta in MONOHULLS (aka AC90, or the other new boat designed for AC33) or a Deed of Gift regatta in MULTIHULLS between BOR and Alinghi.

NOT A MULTI-CHALLENGE REGATTA IN MULTIHULLS, as Alinghi proposed on their meeting with BOR on April 23rd.

Best regards,
Me

Alinghilites there is NO Mutual Consent(MC) It's a DoG 1v1 there is no likelyhood of a CSS as there is no MC. It's one or the other.

If SNG had taken the 2007 offer of a MC we could have been looking at a CSS in mono's or multi's w/ class/box rule boats. SNG did not & now we are 2 years down the road w/ tons of $ spent when the Deed says you have 10 months to build your DoG boat. Also, now we have DoG boats build, will at least 1 we know of.

Btw wasn't it Brad & SNG that said they can't go to a MC as they now have have a DoG boat? Yet, GGYC has all along been willing to a MC & even mothball their DoG for a MC so everyone can race.

SNG has said no to a MC & it's that simple that they have put everyone on the beach. Get over it...

Remind me. Was it the China team who beat BOR in the 32nd ACCup ? They're afraid of getting a kicking by any team. In a multi hull the chances of a good kicking will be even greater than before. Especially by equipment failure. It's a roll of the dice.

but LE is willing to go with the roll of the dice, because those odds are still better then having to actually sail against another team .... the perennial loser!

yeah, sure. they could certainly have answered this way: "ok. be ready to race on february 1st, 3rd and 5th, 2010, one week before the ac match."
how about that, uhmm?

Noberto, exactly right. Quick challenge series one week, winner races the Alinghi the next. A warm up for the challengers. It's a no brainer.

8:55pm I dont care what you say. There is clearly an opportunity here for BOR to show good will and follow through with there supposed preference to have a multi challenge event. What difference does it make if it is in Mono hulls or multi hulls. If they are true to their word they have to give other teams the chance to challenge. If BOR refuse this then they have finally been caught out and have shown their true colors. They never did give a shit about any other team. It was a media sham (all be it very well thought out).

11:10 AM typical Alinghi response by throwing everything at the wall without looking at where the beginning started.

It started with a sham yacht club called CNEV so the worse text in history of the AC could be written. After that, it's been 2 years of SNG being in court with 5 motions to 2.

It goes on & on but you fail to hold EB/SNG/Alinghi to the same benchmark. They have said no numerous times!!! They have killed everyone due to their arrogrance, commerical greed, hijacking The Cup & etc.

EB/SNG/Alinghi have & continue to not work within the Deed & it is going to cost them. Maybe even before they hit the water. They are not worthy of being a Trustee.

It doesn't matter what you or anyone else like you thinks as this is about working within the traditions, The Deed/Cup & protecting the Trust. This is why it goes to court.

Again go back to "we will not appeal" EB/SNG/Alinghi & ask them why they continue to act as the villain.

7PM, You obviously work for the Oracle team. If you are in a position to do so why dont you answer the question. Why wouldn´t BOR agree right now to accept other challengers? Lets here it straight.
If there is no responce we will all have to assume that BOR are not as squeeky clean as they would like everyone to think.

12:57 PM - You did not read the post -

"If SNG had taken the 2007 offer of a MC we could have been looking at a CSS in mono's or multi's w/ class/box rule boats"

This is now a DoG 1v1. Look at your history & see if what SNG is suggesting has been done before?

Btw like many who post here, I'm a traditionalist & it's about the Trust's Deed being protected as best as possible.

So you are stating that because this is a DOG match that BOR are not allowed to accept other challengers... is that right. You did not answer that question. I understand it is a DOG match. Please Clarify... Do BOR have the option to allow other challengers or not? If they do have that option will they be inviting other challengers or not?
