Statement from the Golden Gate Yacht Club

Having failed in its two year battle to remove Golden Gate Yacht Club as the rightful Challenger of Record, Société Nautique de Genève/Alinghi is making yet another groundless attempt to avoid the court's final judgment and further delay the America's Cup. We fully expect that the court will promptly resolve the custom house registry issue, as GGYC is in complete compliance with the Deed of Gift.

Whoa! A GGYC press release with some teeth. I like the "Having failed in its two year battle to remove Golden Gate Yacht Club as the rightful Challenger of Record" line. And its about time BMWO/GGYC starting going for Alinghi's hairy bean-bagg.

How about posting a notice of race for the challenger series?.....

8:38 PM - LMAO!!!

Do you have a competitive boat to race vs DZ? Didn't think so.

Do you know anyone who has a boat to race vs DZ & can put a program together before Feb 2010? Didn't think so.

The CSS is a red herring proposed by the "villian" who only embarrassed themselves once again in the global media.

GGYC's aggressivity only shows their desperation to convince the public opinion of their pretended goodwill. GGYC is a bunch of selfish people lead by the world master of the selfishes: Russell Coutts.

8:38 poster - A challengers series? What challenger series? haven't you noticed that Larry Ellison doesn't want other challengers? He wants his own single shot at the AC. Thats why he has been spending his money on the legal battle and on his big toy.

Yes, one might call that very selfish, it certainly fits the bill.

Question: How do you "remove" somebody" from a place that he hasn't been in??? Uncle Larry just became the Challenger of Record a few days ago. This press release is made of the same pipe dreams as the BOR team!

Just another load of dribble.Stop with the press releases and just sort your shit out the both of you, and stop wasting our time.

It appears you need not be competitive to compete in a challenger series....look at BMWO's effort last time - 4th in LV behind ETNZ, Luna Rosa and the Spanish & 5th over all if you count Alinghi who would have beaten them too.
I too doubt that anyone else would turn up, but GGYC should at least send out the invite for a challenger series for anyone who may be hiding out there in the wood work and may be interested in entering...It has been their aim to organize a multi-challenger event for the last 2 years right?

It is sickening the way Ellison and his pathetic cronies continue to scream their innocence! They are the ones who have continuously sought to get the courts to give them a one on one! They were thoroughly thrashed in the last AC and obviously haven't the guts for a challenger series, wanting to circumvent the real racing thinking that money is what will win then a very dubious honor!

Once again, comments filled with Anonymous Alinghi team members. Ernesto stuffed it all up in the first place remember!!! We would be in this situation if it wasn't for him! And I am not from Oracle either!

3.00am poster- As if there would be any others wanting to build 90x90 multihulls. Its just Alinghi wanting more time to get their boat on the water and learn to use it. But you probably already know this!!

Seems like those BOR fans are beginning to realize that BOR is not what they thought they were.

Where is the invite for the challenger series? Even if (as one fan thinks) there aren't any other interested parties, why wouldn't you invite anyway?

The reason is: Crazy Larry wants his only shot for the AC .... but he wants that "one on one" without anybody else (because that improves his chances) to win something that he has never won before.

How absurd. People here are criticizing GGYC for not issuing a bogus invitation to a multi-challenger series for 90-ft multi-hulls, but there is no criticism of SNG for not negotiating a real monohull mutual consent multi-challenger series?

Hey Paul, on which planet have you been? Thats all old news! Allinghi worked out a mutually agreed upon protocol with 18 challengers. And that is something BOR has never done. BOR has never worked out ANYTHING! They simply have blocked everything, and the end result is that we have a private Dog Match between to very rich men. The rest of the world sits on the sidelines and watches.

Thanks, Crazy Larry!

At the recent AC Hall of Fame dinner BB was overheard saying that he would prefer a multi-challenger AC 33 and that it could be thrashed out with GGYC in three days, but EB is insists on a DoG-match and refuses to let his team negotiate with GGYC. It's just bald propaganda that we are at this juncture because GGYC has been angling for a one-on-one match in 90-ft multihulls. We are here because SNG/Alinghi insist on turning the AC into an invitational advertising regatta in cheap boats with the Defender joining in the Challenger selection fun. That is not a proper America's Cup.

Well, I guess this is a fundamentally philosophical question: is the AC an event for just two rich men, or should it be a multi-nation international sports event?

I suppose that history itself has proven (by way of the Louis Vitton elimination) that the times of a couple of rich men competing amongst themselves are gone.

Norberto give it a break or you are nothing but a troll.

You continue like many other Alinghi cultist to deny that SNG was in breach of the Deed. It was a 6-0 verdict w/ specific orders to keep SNG on track.

The starting point was SNG & the sham CNEV. Nothing else matters as thats the whole reason we are here. Get over it & suck it up that SNG is at fault then & now as they continue to be spoilt little win at any cost brats.

As GGYC stated the other day, it has been SNG for 2 years in court. Look at the court records. Like many other facts you & others continue to ignore how serious SNG has messed up The Cup for everyone.

How upset are people at SNG? Well rumors have it that there are several lawsuits going through the NY AG office by AC traditionalist to have SNG removed as Trustee. Like the past 5 Trustees & others in the yachting community who have spoken out, SNG has upset a lot of yachting people & this is not going to go away for SNG. They are a bad trustee, full stop.

At a recent Oracle event LE was overheard as saying that "he would never allow other participants into the AC" until he had the event "under his control".

Seems like LE has set his mind on the DoG match, and the press releases are all smoke and mirrors to make it look like Allinghi is keeping other entries out.

Say what you want about BMWO/GGYC, but they were the COR for AC32 and that worked out well. So to say BMWO/GGYC has never "invited" anyone or organized a MC event is bull****.

BMWO wants a MC in Mono's. EB/Alinghi want Multi's. Hence the impasse.

Wet Hoggie -- I guess it must have been EB who filled out the Challenge document for Crazy Larry then, right?

It must have been EB who listed a 90 foot obstrosity as the challenging boat, right?

I guess that would make Larry another US-Poodle, wouldn't it?

At 6:50 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

11:17 Poster WetHog - unfortunately you are not correctly informed. BOR issued a challenge with 90 foot multihulls. That in itself pretty much precludes a multi-challenger series.

But, you state that BOR as CoR during 32nd AC did well. No one is arguing that. But why are they changing the protocol now? After 18 other teams agreed to the new protocol? The answer is simple: Mr. Ellison wants his single shot at the AC with as little competition as possible.

650PM - Pls read the NoC as it states MC as well -

"GGYC acknowledges that the Deed of Gift comptemplates negotitations between the Challenger and the Defender that may alter and supplement these terms, and nothing in the Challenge is intended to circumvent consensual negotiations in the spirit of the Deed of Gift toward a Protocol comparable in scope, and similar in terms, to thaat used for the 32nd America's Cup"

You guys got to start reading & understanding the documents before you shoot your mouths off. Otherwise you look just as stupid as SNG.
