Société Nautique de Genève (SNG) statement in reaction to the latest GGYC legal action

[Source: Alinghi] America's Cup Defender, Société Nautique de Genève (SNG), statement in reaction to the latest Golden Gate Yacht Club legal action: "It is again a disappointment that the Golden Gate Yacht Club (GGYC) chooses to pursue its litigious strategy instead of fighting for the America's Cup on the water. It is now the fourth time the American team goes to court, this time in an attempt to prevent the SNG's legitimate right to use its yacht club rules – as prescribed in the Deed of Gift – and the ISAF rules and regulations to their full extent, as it has been the case in previous editions of the America's Cup and in any international regatta in the world. While GGYC continues to put pressure on the SNG through the New York courts, SNG continues to wait for the GGYC to provide their yacht's Custom House Registry as soon as possible, as per the Deed of Gift and the New York court decisions."

Why is it that SNG always generalizes in their news releases versus dealing with what GGYC has wrote about SNG understanding of the Deed? Could it be that SNG doesn't want to know what the Deed, AC traditions and history have to say.

Maybe they don't go into detail in their press releases becuase they are not looking for sympathy for their team, nor do they like going on and going about legal crap.

There is nothing to answer. One cannot be held in contempt for something that hasn't happened yet (i.e. race with motors,) Its another frugal and ridiculous attempt by GGYC to stir up shit.

8:21 pm - too bad SNG put it in writing which goes to explain that they don't know anything about the Deed. They still haven't figured what was wrong with CNEV. Just like you who doesn't do your penalty turns. Really sad!!!

They sure haven't raced with an engine. But they have clearly announced that they can change the rules of racing as they wish (which is in clear breach of the Deed) so going to court for a clarification about the rules is not frugal (Just as they did when Alinghi claimmed that they would race in may and not in february)

as a direct consequence of sng/alinghi insisting in pursuing its illegal/non deed compliant strategy. each time sng/alinghi goes against the deed and/or the court ruling, they'll be faced with a contempt motion. i think even eb, mesmejean and ostrager can understand it - it's not that hard.

So far Allinghi has not received one single contempt charge, so don't make it out like they are the bad guys. Its ridiculous that BOR has to run to court every time they think something bad may be happening, sort of like kindergarten when the little guy complains that somebody maybe wants to hit him.

BOR ... grow up and get a life! You cannot be held in contempt for ANYTHING that hasn't happened yet! Idiots! And the judge is not the referee like in a football game ....

Noberto 2 - What is ridiculous is that SNG keeps tyring to play holier than thou with the Deed. If SNG want to keep writing they are NOT going to honor the Deed nor history, SNG will be infront of the NYSC.

It's GGYC's duty to insure SNG follows the Deed. It's no different than SNG creating their shame CNEV. Get over it & maybe talk to your SNG buddies to play by the Deed. They are such a disgrace to the sailing community.

Oh of course, its GGYCs job to defend the free world, sort of like the self proclaimed sheriff of sailing .... what a joke!

Psssst, the kindergarten bully BOR will report you to the judge, if you don't keep quiet. All of you! They will tell it all to the authorities, and just wait and see what happens then ........ haha .......

Seems like the courts have sided more with GGYC than with SNG. Otherwise we'd be months away from the next AC. So why is that GGYC's fault? Rules are rules, and whether it's a racing jury or a judge, they're doing what they're supposed to do. GGYC's arguments are hardly frivolous. Of course, you might want GGYC to roll over and accept whatever edicts or crap SNG or others want to hand out, but we all know that ain't gonna happen.
