Video: Loïck Peyron talks about Alinghi's new catamaran

When even the legendary French sailor Loïck Peyron states that he is "impressed" (although not surprised) by Alinghi's new catamaran, there is very little we can add. Peyron is eager to go to Switzerland just to witness how the Defender of the 33rd America's Cup launch their giant catamaran and when comparing her to BMW Oracle's BOR90 he admits that even for an unconventional match like the one we'll watch in February, Alinghi 5 is much less "traditional", something "brand new". For the French sailor, BOR90 is probably a scaled-up version of the 60ft French trimarans.

So, we guess we'll have to wait for the launch of the alleged second multihull BMW Oracle is building somewhere on the US west coast, in order to see whether the Americans will also race an impressive yacht.
