Arabian 100 makes her first splash

[Source: Oman Sail] The Arabian 100 hits the water for the first time in Oman on 23rd August 2009. It's a proud day for Oman as the Arabian 100 trimaran touches water for the very first time here in Salalah Port. She has been under construction since 2008 - her large components molded in Australia and then shipped to and assembled in Salalah in the south of the Sultanate. A team of up to 30 international and Omani boat builders and specialists have worked on her at any one time and the result is this phenomenal racing craft which is sure to be making headlines soon.

This is just an idea, but with all these huge trimarans that have been built (Groupama 3, Banque Populaire V, A100, BOR-90, Alinghi 5, etc.) it would be really cool to see them competing again each other in a world championship or something like that.

I know that BOR-90 as well as Alinghi 5 were only built for the 33rd America's Cup, but after that event is over, it would be really cool to see those boats competing against the other big multihulls.

As I said, is just an idea, but you never know if someone takes the iniciative to organize an event with all these boats.

Best regards,
Cristian Palau
