Last Friday, September 18th, Alinghi filed a series of opposition documents to GGYC, requesting the court to deny GGYC's latest motion and reaffirming that the SNG is entitled under the Deed of Gift to set the rules for the 33rd America's Cup.

The Defender of the 33rd America's Cup published these documents today, so here they are, if you are interested in the legal intricacies.

I have supported Alinghi through things, but reading this is very disappointing.

Its hard to tell who is more stupid here, the team scared they won't be able to hold onto the Cup, or the team scared they have gotten what they wished for.

Either way you are both losers.

More Alinghi BS & once again so much for them trying to win in the courtroom & in the race documents. Like the ACP 33 they've wanted to win on land before the boats hit the water. They are really sad & shameful for our sport. Hopefully this judge will wake up if not like before we know the courts understanding of the Deed is with the CoA.

What does SNG expect when they don't publish the NOR & Rule until race time. How does the challenger know to bring a 12M or a laser to race with there are no rules that allow for a boat to be built. Is SNG really that desperate???

I don't understand...
From this it's very clear that SNG has been playing fair. Or at least trying to. It's very clear that GGYC has been trying all the unfair possibilities to make the world (and the court) have wrong interpretations of the Deed. So much that the court mentions GGYC's "unsportsmanship". I think that one has to play pretty unfair for a judge to refer "unsportsmanship"...

I support Alinghi, they won the Cup twice they deserve to run it as they want, its their right defender. The rules always favour the defender, thats part of the challenge.

But man, its getting tired.

I just realised that the SNG rules are a copy of the ones used in the 1988 match.
The rules that Ehman finds unfair were written by him self when he defended in 1988!

The America's Cup is always been "monument" to unfairness, since its beginning.
The DoG is the only document that we have, that tries to establish some general rules and It says that this is, or at least should be, a competition between gentlemans. But nor Ernesto Bertarelli neither Larry Ellison had never behave so or simply as sportsmans.
This competition has became just a quarrel between spoiled childs.
Let's put all this silly legal stuff in the garbage and go back fighting on the water, once and forever!
