BMW Oracle to resume BOR 90 testing next week

[Source: BMW Oracle] The BMW ORACLE Racing team in San Diego is bringing its full resources to bear on the effort to be ready to resume testing on the BOR 90 next week.

The shore crew and boatbuilding team have been working tirelessly to have the new rig platform ready - on schedule - for installation next week, which will allow the team to start a new phase of testing.

“Our crew has basically worked non-stop since we got here (from Anacortes) just under a month ago,” said construction team manager Tim Smyth (NZL).

“We said we'd be ready by next week and we've worked the days and hours required to hit that deadline. It’s been a long stretch but the guys are pretty motivated and enthusiastic because it's such a cool project. We're on the final strokes now.”

For its part, the sailing team is keen to get back on the water. Sailing coach Glenn Ashby (AUS) has been putting his charges through some small boat multihull sailing this week, and many of the sailors have been drafted into the maintenance programme, but the entire team is eager to get back to full-scale testing.

4:06 PM - don't you think SNG has got to get themselves out of court 1st. They keep breaking the Deeds laws before there is even a race which is typical SNG/Alinghi stacking the deck before they hit the water ie CNEV, worse text in AC history & the list goes on & on.

Btw the win it on the water line SNG uses is BS as The Cup can't be won in court. GGYC knows it & so does any AC informed person.

Glad they fixed it, now they can break the next mast or whatever, and start repairing again. Maybe less lawyers and better engineers would be an idea ???????

Hi Stingray,

Well, Alighi has broken masts before. If I get you right they also should have "less lawyers and better engineers" then...

To 4:06 PM anon

There have been countless "predictions" regarding AC on this website before, some of them were pretty naive, but most of them turned out to be wrong in the end. Why don't we simply wait and see until these boats actually race against each other.

The BMWO wing has been revealed. Now we know what BMWO will be testing this coming week. Pictures of this "190 foot high" wing are on the BMWOracing website. Impressive.
