Will it break before or after Christmas?

Martin,

if one wants to push the technological edge one has to face the possibility of gear failure. This is inherently risky. Just look at the teams that try to break the sailing speed record. However, I find this project really exciting because this is now really pushing it and something is attempted that never has been done before. I wish BMWOracle good luck with their new sail configuration.

Big question: Are they going to use a headsail and if, how are they going to attach it to the wing?

This is indeed exciting. The legal stuff is mostly usefull to gain a (small) advantage for one side or the other, but the best design and sailing tem will prevail in the end.
It would be nice for Alinghi and BOR to at least agree to race these boats more than 2 or 3 times.

Question: is a wing DOG legal? DOG says "vessel propelled by sails only"

Hi,

My name is Uncle Larry and I'm very proud of my team of lawyers, they win all the time. Unfortunately, my sailors took a humiliating loss in Nice versus the Italians.

I honestly don't care because I'll win the Cup in the court not on the water

Just when you thought AC couldn't get any lower... The guys that brought engines to AC boats are going to claim hard sails are not deed legal...what interest I had left is quickly fading

Alinghi will be hard pressed to fight and win a protest on the wing. There is already precedent supporting the use of a wing in an AC DoG match. Dennis Conner used one in '88.
