Video: Dean Barker talks about the Louis Vuitton Trophy in Nice

Although racing is scheduled to start on Saturday, the 8 teams taking part in the Louis Vuitton Trophy in Nice have been training since the start of the week. Emirates Team New Zealand and BMW Oracle practiced on Wednesday but the strong winds (up to 25 knots) and big waves made it impossible to carry out any training on Thursday.

Our friends at BTS Broadcast caught up with Dean Barker, helmsman of Emirates Team New Zealand, on Thursday and talked about his team's goals and expectations in this regatta.

The 8 teams will race on 4 boats (ITA-90, ITA-99, FRA-93 and GBR-75) that regatta organizers have tried to make as equal as possible. The draw for boats and ends of the starting line will take place on Friday evening at an opening ceremony at the Nice Opera House, and is expected to be attended by the Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, who also holds the titles of president of the region Nice Côte d’Azur and minister of industry for France.

The first warning signal is scheduled for 0900 on Saturday.
