Ayre Challenge signs Agreement with North Sails

[Source: AYRE Challenge] Ayre Challenge announced its intention to participate in the next edition of the Volvo Ocean Race, taking place in 2011-2012, and following its development plans, it has reached an agreement with North Sails.

North Sails has developed a series of proprietary software North Design Software - NDS – which comprises analytical programs like Flow/Membrain ™, Run VPP ™ Virtual Wind-tunnel ™ and the design software called Spin ™ and Spiral ™ which is fundamental to successfully predict, design and analyze the performance of sails. North Sails has a vast experience in the VOR70 class as supplier of the majority of the sails for all the editions of the Volvo Ocean Race.

North Sails and Ayre Challenge are entering into an agreement to work together with the objective of designing and building fast race-winning sails for Ayre Challenge.

Amazing news and what a break through... They are doing what every team in the AC and VOR have done for the last 15 years!

First sails, then builder, maybe later on even a designer and some money as well. I think that they should start from the beginning and carry on normally. The whole thing is up side down with these guys. They are doing the wrong publicity for themselves.

It's a foregone conclusion that any serious team will sign with Norths. They have the best designers, software, support and ultimately the best product for high level yacht racing teams. Not really news worthy though...
I work with AC and VOR teams. I have never seen such an announcement go to press, that's all... No need to write completely mundane stuff.
Entries for the next VOR??? What's your point? There is never any 2 years from start date, but we manage always 8 entries and the next race will be no different...
Think it's good there is a second spanish team to keep Tele in check. Telefonica / Movistar have had every opportunity to win the race, but are a poorly managed team and will struggle to make the podium next time in my opinion. Although, not renewing BB's contract after 1 successful sinking and another fantastic effort is a move in the right direction!
