Deal or no deal?

Following the publication of our article on the press conference held after the conclusion of a meeting between Alinghi, BMW Oracle and the city of Valencia, there were reports stating that Paco Latorre, Alinghi's head of communications, denied the "rumors" about a deal his team had made with either party about the 33rd America's Cup in Valencia.

For the record, I recompiled the footage of Lucien Masmejan's statements, Alinghi's counselor. The conclusion is yours, but I honestly believe it is much more than "rumors"!!! As we have always stated, all the arrangements will take place, if the Appellate Division upholds Justice Kornreich's decision on Ras al-Khaimah being an illegitimate venue for an America's Cup match in February. If the 4 judges decide otherwise, then the agreement will obviously become a useless piece of paper and Alinghi will be able to hold the Cup in RAK.

I doubt that Alinghi will be able to switch the location to RAK with approximately six weeks of notice even if the judges of the Appellate Division would revert Justice Kornreichs decision. After all Alinghi has committed to Valencia in their NOR.

Deal or no deal ?
Who cares? It is Valencia now, and no rudder in the LWL.

NYSC once again rules against the SNG & Alinghi brain trust by reaffirming the judges order that RAK is not Deed legal & that rudders are not part of the LWL measurement.

Valencia the AC is all yours & maybe the 34th too as rumors are the poliical situation with Iran & USA is the AC will never be allowed to go anywhere near the UAE.
