Alinghi media day - Valencia - 20 January 2010

Related Audio FileAlinghi press conference - Valencia, 20 Jan 2010
Alinghi is holding a packed media day today. It is currently ongoing and I will report after its end, at approximately 5pm Valencia time. In the meantime, here's a bunch of photos of Alinghi 5 undergoing scheduled maintenance. With the 33rd America's Cup match just a few days away, Alinghi thought there was nothing to hide, almost, and let us wander under their giant catamaran.

This site doesn't have a letter out there from GGYC that says they have asked the IJ for redress on the NOR & SI's

There was complaint about the design of the USA being French. No one in the press challenged this assertion with the complimentary facts.
On alinghi's own web site they have the names, images and nationalities of their design team. I counted 5 countries, right off, a small minority being Swiss.

In the same meeting Alinghi also mentioned that the motor on USA 17 was made in Germany, but they were not going to mention this unless forced to

As a long term follower of AC, an average person who has spent time and money to travel the world to 'be there' including working as a volunteer in Valencia I have now decided to dedicate my time, money and energy to a sport that isn't ruined by false egos' and money. Get real guys, grow up, get racing, get out of the court mind set and get a grip, you are turning the world off this sport. Who cares about your petty arguments?....only you! We want action not words, but alas its too late.....the 2 teams are in the same venue and still arguing...WHAT OTHER SPORT HAS THIS SCENARIO...oh Boxing comes to mind. GUYS from both teams, grow up, get real for I fear it is now too late, I, like many others are turned off, your sponsors have left and we are now down to a private wealth competition....if this is what you want for this sport......?..your choice! goodbye, good riddance and good to be away from it....you (all of you) BLEW IT!!!!

David Valencia,

Totaly Agree with you.

First rule in any sport : Respect ur opponent...

Fair Play, Etc....

These guy's are a shame for any sport and any kind of human activity.

They should be banned from our sport and hope they dont make any more dammage anywhere.

NVS

R.Coutts talked about 'immature' behaviour...that's a good way to qualify things on both parties
