Ask Russell Coutts your questions

Our apologies for the lack of any updates these last two days, we'll be back in full swing on Friday morning, with very interesting content.

BMW Oracle are organizing their first 33rd America's Cup press conference in their base in Valencia, one month exactly before the start of the match. Russell Coutts, CEO of the America's Cup challenger, will inform journalists about the latest developments in his team and the Cup and he'll be joined by Manolo Ruiz de Elvira and Joseph Ozanne, members of the design team.

Do you have any questions you would like them to answer? Just leave a comment on this post.

Here is a question for Russell - If the match actually goes ahead, and if Alinghi manage to win on the water, will he state categorically that BMW Oracle will NOT go to court in New York to acquire the cup by 'legal means'? Same question to Alinghi if you get to talk to them.

Just as things started to get interesting (re: NOR requiring BOR to berth inside the Darsena) I had to get my news from the scuttlebutt!! Apology accepted.

Where can we find information on the format of the races? I guess the number of races in the series will be decided by the two parties, but what length and shape of course can we expect from these yachts?

And... What kind of spectator craft control can be expected?

Can I say ... go BOR?

a) Is BOR prepared not to continue litigation in the case they loose to Alinghi in order the 34th AC not to be stalled again ?

b) Is BOR going to consult every challenger prior to publishing the new protocol ?

c) Are they open to host the Cup to a place other than Valencia?

- New wing parts? You have asked the Port enough room to work with a wing 62x16 meters...

- Different foils for different wind and seas conditions?

- And on the new wing position? A longer bowsprit to balance the sail center?

- You will have a super lightweight jib? He would put on the end of the boom?

- Anything about UAVs?

Is BMWOR confident that they understand the performance potential for the A5 catamaran based on reverse engineering? If yes, what is the X factor for the racing in February?

Ask him, why BOR not just go back home... ;-) No, seriously: Q#1. Why is Larry Ellison an Russel capable to do this Deed Match? Disqualifing 8-12 great teams to participate on Cup matchracing - not sportsmans like. Q#2. If BOR play with the "nationality" rules (sails), what to do with the fact that the wing conceptors are FRENCH...

a) what is wrong with mooring in the Darsena?

b) is BOR supportive of / pushing a longer series than just 3 races? What are the reasons for not doing having more than the DoG stipulated 3?

I would like you to ask him what it's like working with a man (Tom Ehman) you once described as a "fucking nasty shit"?

Here's a question for Russell... How do you sleep at night?

would you please ask Russell if the rumors are true that he gets
50 Mio $ from Larry if he wins the Cup?

Please ask Russell if Paul Cayard & him have been working with the WSTA teams & Bruno on the future vision of the next AC regardless of what team wins the 33rd.

Hi Russel - Are the bearaway turns at the top a concern? How about the wing mark turn in Race 2? Thank you

Hi - Beautiful boat!.
The court ruled that your maximum ballast for the race is to be on board at measurement time. Do the rules allow you to jettison ballast, and can you take it back on, up to the amount you began with?

Hi Russell

Why are you such a selfish, money-grubbing, power-hungry douchebag???
Answer if you can. Maybe a few years of therapy could help you sort that out. You'll have plenty of time for head-shrinking when Alinghi wins AC33 and you're out of a job!

Although this is VS, there sure are a lot of the Alinghi kids showing they know nothing about asking RC a question. Pretty sad but expected from the uninformed who don't bother to read AC history, the Deed, ISAF rules & court orders. Pierre has better things to do with his time & so do we.

Could you please ask him if his more driven by:

- his hate of Ernesto Bertarelli
- his greed for millions
- his passion for sailing

Does he really want to race in February?

Russell, do you think to mop someone and attack someone personally is the right way to resolve a problem? Why do you and BMW always try to tell the public that Alinghi trys to cheat?? This is a very bad style! ...and supportet by BMW

Is he still friend with Kirsty Bertarelli?

Does Russell think that he owes the fans of the sport of sailing any kind of apology? I've never heard any of the players ever say they are sorry.

Let me assure you, RC is a wonderful person and man. Quite a contrast to my superdouchebag daddy EB!

What is the maximum amount of water ballast that BMWO will carry?

Please ask to Russell (and to Alinghi if you can) if they can confirm that the 34th Match will be in Valencia in normal spring time in a more "conventional format" . Second Question (Also to alinghi 5): When they will trial the USA and in which part of the seaside (north or south of Valencia Port) in order to go and see the trials (I'm a 17foot FXone catamaran sailor).
