Ask Russell Coutts your questions

I repeat myself but it's not my fault. Last week I ran a similar post where you could ask BMW Oracle's CEO your questions but, unfortunately, due to a nasty cold the legendary kiwi sailor couldn't make it to the press conference held in his team base.

Well, in 3 hours from now, at 4:30pm Valencia time, another press conference will be held in the BMW Oracle in Valencia, this time with his presence confirmed. It will be an interesting appearance and we hope he can shed more light on the conversations held in Singapore between his team and Alinghi as well as the latest legal action taken by his team's lawyers in the New York Supreme Court.

Do you have any questions you would like answered? Just leave a comment.

I (and many of us) would be so happy if you could simply ask NO question to that man.

What was in the final draft of the agreement that GGYC and SNG almost signed in Singapore?

Do you think that will have been the final attempt at reaching some mutual consent?

With hindsight would it not have been better to comply with the other challengers request to drop the legal case back in October 2007 after Alinghi had agreed to most of your initial demands?

If Alinghi measure with Swiss made sails is that final hurdle as far as you are concerned, or do you have more cards up your sleeve?

is the 50 million bonus story true?

does he really think that alinghi would only win because of the sails?

when a strikt cic comes into action, will they replace theire winches, hydraulics and so on?

I agree with Renaud ! No question.

I was planning to be in Valencia for the Cup in February, but with all this uncertainty I rather not book any flight/hotel. The new CIC sails claim in NYC will bring more uncertainty...is this BOR strategy?

question: has rc ever tried a vacuum constriction device to get a hard one?! (it's much cheaper than the shit he does since two years.....)

Was the lawsuit filed as part of ongoing discussions (barganing chip)?

How clear was it that the people send by Alinghi to the Singapore meeting were not allowed to do any concessions?

When are you expecting to be able to do your first sailing with the boat?

What crew line-up can we expect now that SNG has decided engine power can be used?

Q1. Rather that file a petition in the NY Courts regarding the CIC of Alighi's sails, would it not have made more sense to ask the International Jury for a decision? At least they have an understanding of the sport, unlike the judges and lawyers (on both sides) that have dealt with it so far.

Q2. I have a hotel room booked (refundable). Should I book my flights for the 6th Feb now, or should I wait a few days?

I believe this court action will destroy the event by making it uncertain for the fans whether to book tickets yet. Most of us cannot afford to book tickets and then lose them.

Russell: ¿Estas cobrandote con estas actuaciones antiguos rencores de tu salida del Alinghi?.

Do ou agree with the windspeed and wave limits in the NOR?

Will you and Larry be on board if those limits are exceeded?

¿Es cierto la noticia de que dos miembros del equipo BMWOracle recientemente han desertado por el alto componente de riesgo que tiene la navegacion con este multicasco?

.) ask him when they stop their show sailing and get on the water with a DOG compliant sail boat! Wings are no sail
2.) furthermore tell him thank you from all the other teams for the big "support" of the last 3 years without racing!
3.) As him if he can give you the many times verbal given commitment in writing, that the next multi challenger Cup will be held in Valencia and not in the US!
4.) Is his private Jet already on standby to escape from angry Larry when they loose the Cup?

luke, the people alinghi sends to all and every meetings are never allowed to do any concessions or make any commitments except if eb himself is present, which never happens and so the meetings are a pure waste of everybody's time. delay tactics by alinghi.

Norby, you don't know what you're talking about.

About the BMW engines that power BMWO winches: are you really sure they are made/constructed in the USA?

Norby ¿que tiempo hace por Floripo?

Why do GGYC/ BMWO people continue to waste time money and energy traveling around the world for meetings where the opposition is not empowered to sign up for what is agreed upon?

saludos.
