Farr Designed First 40 wins IRC at Sydney Hobart

[Source: Farr Yacht Design] The new Beneteau First 40, designed by Farr Yacht Design, took first and second places in the 77 boat IRC division and first place in the ORCi division of the Sydney Hobart fleet.

“Our congratulations go out to Andrew Saies, winner, and Mark Welsh, runner up, and their crews,” said Patrick Shaughnessy, President of Farr Yacht Design.

“It is encouraging to see these production boats deliver a good all round racer/cruiser capable of winning prestige events on sensible budgets. Our collaboration with the Beneteau design team in this program has produced another winner”, said Patrick.

The Beneteau First 40 was designed in 2008 to replace the highly successful First 40.7 also designed by Farr Yacht Design in 1997. The 40.7 won the IRC division of the 2003 race.
