What is a 'douchebag'?

The only reason he won it was because of the courts.

Larry will always be known in europe as the guy who won it through the back door.

Never good enough to win it the hard way!

Hey dude, I thought BMWOracle won in "on the water". Delta frist race: more than 15 minutes; delta second race: more than 5 minutes. I think that says it all. Alinghi 5 was clearly the inferior design. There is very little the courts had to do with this outcome.

jamie f. do you truly believe Oracle deserve to have the cup? Alinghi have proved themselves time and time again on a level playing field against all comers. Do you feel that Oracle are the best team and deserve this? We are talking about the team that couldnt even beat China back in 2007.

Well, BMWOracle obviously beat Alinghi, "the best team of AC32" in a very convincing way. That was all that was required. Had Alinghi preferred to see a Challenger series, it would have been prudent to sit down and negotiate with the CoR. Obviously, Alinghi people were too arrogant to do so and that's why we had a DoG match in which Alinghi could not compete successfully.
Either BMWOracle improved significantly since AC 32 (perhaps due to the influence of RC?) or Alinghi significantly lost in strength... you tell me.

Alinghi fans still crying, build a bridge and get over it.

What happened to his face?

I am not sure Alinghi ever really provided a level playing field and quite frankly Ernesto has very few friends in the sailing fraternity. Alinghi was always team bought from NZ. The Deed of gift race would never have been necessary if he wasn't cheating. The only people sad about Alinghi are Alinghi. Any neutral observer is right behind the new error.

I was and i am a huge fan of alinghi

I never have been part of alinghi, but i still like the spirit

Ben,

Sure and Larry has a team of Americans that never cost him a penny, they do it for the love of the home land.
Get real this is professional sailing.

As far as cheating is concerned let's see how Larry deals the cards and let the teams scratch below the surface.I'm sure there'll be some call of foul before too long simply based on everyone trying to get an advantage. The only difference I hope is that the lawyers wont get involved and it will continue as most cups have in the past with nobody trusting anybody and the challengers calling the deffender a cheat.

In case you hadn't noticed AC33 was completely different to AC32.
Oracle gave themselves an 18 month design head-start and their boat was on the water at least 12 months before Alinghi's. They then systematically removed all the rights of the defender through the american courts all the while playing loose with deed's requirement to produce a CHR.
Supporting one team or another is fair game, but allowing your fanaticism to blind you from the facts is moronic.

Where did Larry get that number of hundreds of thousand watching the Moet Cup back in 2003? Ten thousand maybe, total apathy certainly. Larry didn't even leave the water so who knows how he could estimate the crowd.
He aslo forgot to mention that the most succesful AC ever was created by Ernesto Bertarelli who put together a campaign that not only offered huge support to teams in infrastructure costs but also generated a €60 million pot shared amongst challengers who unlike Larry need the money. He's already speaking on behalf of challengers saying give us the land and we'll pay to be here. Interesting?
I honestly don't believe Larry is anything but passionate about sailing, he's just out of touch with reality and misguided by a bunch of advisors who are either obssesed with money ot their own agenda.

Challengers watch out these guys are on a raid.

To Anonymous 10:01

Get your facts straight... Oracle never "gave themselves an 18 month design head-start" but instead Alinghi tried time after time to delay the race on their own. Only a misguided lower court ruling (which was unanimously overturned) allowed Alnghi to resume their plans with CNEV as the CoR and further delayed AC33. Once that was overturned the Deed mandated 10 month notice period was ordered. EB and SNG made their own beds on this one and they were soundly beaten in every way conceivable by Oracle and GGYC.

anyway the show is over and all of you looking backwards are on the wrong way! We have to live with the new facts and get started again. So lets rebuild the teams and start training and hope we have at least 2 years of racing in Europa until we go to what ever venue in the US.
THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THIS LEGAL BULLSHIT IS OVER (hopefully)

Where is the Protocal document is it a secret paper
where are the rules, where are the challengers
come on its worst than ever

10:01 you must be reading some fairytale book as you are living in a fantasy world. The Trustee / Defender has no rights other than to sail a match on ocean courses. There is this notion that the Defender can make up their own rules and as history and the courts have proven, they can not. It's the same is sailing, the host YC can't make up rules to favor the host YC boats. Alinghi only used this line to BS those that have no understanding of the Deed. Sadly Alinghi after their act on the RC boat has lost not only the Cup but the moral victory they were trying to get as martyr's.

hey all you alinghi fans, supporters and sockpuppets: get over it - alinghi lost the ac. on the water. fair and square. stfu and stop whynning for christ sakes.

Norby, I am 100% with you on this

There was no incident on the Race Committee boat. This was a lie started on the sailing anarchy forums that was spread by the oracle fan base and half-wit journalists like eric sharp and dana johannsen

At 9:02 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I guess this "lie" was started by the PRO, Harold Bennett himself then...
