Publication of AC72 Class Rule delayed until October 15
[Source: BMW Oracle] Following a period of consultation with potential teams for the 34th America’s Cup, the release date of the AC72 Class Rule has been pushed back by two weeks to Oct. 15.
An initial draft was released to prospective teams on Sept. 16. Based on their considered input, a second draft will be issued on or before Oct. 6, allowing potential teams an additional comment period before its formal release.
“The Defender and Challenger of Record have agreed an amendment to the Protocol for the 34th America’s Cup to permit this short delay in publishing the AC72 Class Rule,” said Murray in a memo to prospective competitors for the 34th America’s Cup.
The AC72 is the new high-performance wingsail catamaran being developed for the 34th America’s Cup. The Rule is being drafted by Morrelli & Melvin Design and Engineering on behalf of US SAILING.

Anyone know what chages are to be made?
Potential Teams?
Who could they be...?
The rule is being changed to Monohull after the success in response. No one said that the Draft had to be any similar to the final one at all.
maybe they gonna cut one hull? :))
Another delay under the fallacious ground of consultingnwith challengers. Keep cheating Russell!
I have heard they are discussing the deletion of one of the hulls.
The port side hull is gone. The wing is going to be allowed of soft construcction and minimum thickness (so a normal sail) and there is a new chapter about lead ballast. The ammended protocol mentions a "recommended use of AC 45 if you want to experience some motorbike feeling, which is not the point", now not compulsory any more and the dates for construction and black-out periods are gone. That's what the new documents should read like.
This was a good try by BOR+RC but they are alone, they can keep the cup forever like this. Team Origin is out, confirmed.
It looks like this is cracking up before it even started...
I wonder why...
This is a good sign at least the potential challengers are engaged in some sort of dialogue. May be worth hearing what the challengers have to say before passing any harsh judgement.
Challengers have nothing to say, do not get confused. Only market talks.
Sad story.
Is the rumour correct, they are thinking of renaming it the "Oracle Cup", in line with all the other major sailing events?
I heard it was to be renamed The Larrys cup.
Other alternaive is that they need time as they are looking for more ways to screw potential Teams so to scare them all if there anyone left..
The n'est America's Cup ever...
