Aleph Team France becomes official 34th America's Cup Challenger

[Source: Aleph Team France] A major milestone has been reached by ALEPH, challenge led by the tandem Pacé Bertrand and Alain Gautier. The inscription of the French project has just been validated by the Golden Gate Yacht Club. ALEPH officially becomes a challenger for the 34th America's Cup. Backed by the French Sailing Federation, the French challenger gets the official status of "Team of France for the 34th America's Cup" and is renamed "ALEPH-TEAM FRANCE".

Russell Coutts: "The news that ALEPH - TEAM FRANCE joins the ranks of official 34th America's Cup competitors is great."

Jean-Pierre Champion, President of the French Sailing Federation (FFV): "It is a satisfaction to see the project we are backing become an official challenger. We're not there yet but a milestone has been achieved and we are very happy. In addition, this inscription gives us the right to name this project "Team of France", as promised. After the French Olympic Sailing Team and the French Match Racing Team it is the 3rd French team and we wish as much success as the first two."

Bertrand Pacé: "Representing your country is an immense privilege, another reason not to disappoint and be up to the challenge. True to its strategy, ALEPH - TEAM FRANCE will continue to gather the French talents who want to promote the collective result. "

Alain Gautier: "For each team member this is a moment of pride and emotion. The team spirit cultivated by the French teams in handball, athletics, swimming, or more recently the brilliant French team in Olympic sailing is a source of inspiration for ALEPH - TEAM FRANCE: success is built in the strength of a team, both in individual as well as team sports. "

ALEPH - TEAM FRANCE is the 4th international project to become an official 34th America's Cup Challenger and continues its efforts to complete its financial partnership before March 2011. The new format set by the organization will offer ALEPH - TEAM FRANCE sponsors unprecedented media exposure.

Vive la France.
Good for them.
We all know they have an uphill battle against Oracle but France is the best multihull sailing country in the world.
Bonne Chance.

It's sad to see Oracle repeating EXACTLY what Alinghi did in AC33. So much for their preaching. They should have kept their mouth shut, win the lawsuit and now openly declare "This is the AC, we are the Defender and we do whatever we like."

It would had been more honest. Given the lack of challengers they now accept whatever sham team comes along. Why don't they announce their yacht club?? Is it because there is no yacht club but a sailing federation?

the backing by the federation is an old story. was the same for areva. doesn't mean no yc.

Their "yacht" club is called Aleph Yacht Club (www.a-y-c.fr). It was created on the 4th of November, 2010 and had its first edition of its "annual" regatta two weeks ago, on November 27th.

The club's offices are in Paris and lacks any facilities.

Go figure... Iain Murray accepts challenges from yachts clubs that are barely one month old!!!!

and who provide the cash for the French joke? Maybe Areva ?

1:29 PM anon and some other idiots here,

As if BMOR care that CNEV was COR.They dont give a shit. They just saw a way to take the Cup to court and used it. Come on see the light. Russell was out for blood and was looking for anyway possible to screw Ernesto. Have a think about this for a minute.. The guy that advised Ernesto that it would be OK to sign CNEV as COR now works for Oracle. Hmmmm. Ooops

Why do you keep writing that same dumb ass line. Stop it please.

The French team better not bat Oracle or they will on their way to court for sure.

11:02 AM anon,

Perhaps WH keeps writing this little line because it is reminding us why "certain" people write "certain" comments in this thread.

I wouldnt mind Wet Hog saying such things if he was blameless but the truth of it is he is the worst hater on this blog.

I think I'm "blameless"? Seriously? This is a blog about sail boat racing and we are commenting on, wait for it, sail boat racing. Some of you need to lighten the F*** up.

EB put the stones to RC prior to AC32 and RC has gotten his revenge. Right or wrong that is where we are. Some can continue to cry about Alinghi's ass kicking at the hands of USA-17, but whats the point? No matter how you slice it EB was a turd who was up to no good. He deserved what he got.

And to the fine fellow/lady who referred to me as "ShatHog", I cannot stop. I enjoy it to much. :P
