BMW Oracle claims top spot at Marseille Trophy after protest

The jury ruled in favor of BMW Oracle and gave them 3 points in Wednesday's 2nd race (Race 5 of the event) instead of the 10 they had initially received. The American team, together with Mutua Madrileña, AUDI Q8 and Cristabella were found to have crossed the starting line too early but Russell Coutts and James Spithill immediately raised the protest flag.

Cristabella's request was denied and Mutua Madrileña withdrew their request. USA-17 are granted average points for Race 5, averaged over all the windward-leeward races sailed before Wednesday night, not including Race 5.

As a result, BMW Oracle now jumps to first place, followed by Artemis and Bribón. The Marseille Trophy score table is as follows:
