Statement from Tom Ehman on Alinghi's appeal

[Source: BMW Oracle] Along with sailing fans and followers around the world, we are disappointed that the defender- Société Nautique de Geneve/Alinghi – has sought to de-rail the America’s Cup once again.

In light of Justice Kornreich’s clear ruling last week, this appeal is unwarranted and without merit.

On Friday Justice Kornreich decided that, in accordance with the Deed of Gift, a February match for the America’s Cup can not be held in the Northern Hemisphere other than in Valencia, a venue previously agreed by both the Defender and Challenger.

The Spanish host of the 2007 America’s Cup Match remains the best choice for everyone. Its facilities and infrastructure are proven and ready. Both teams maintain their permanent bases in the Port America’s Cup. The City is ready to welcome the America’s Cup back.

Following her order on the venue last Friday, Golden Gate Yacht Club confirms Bryan Willis (GBR) as its nominee for the three man panel requested by Justice Kornreich to assist her determine the outstanding sailing and measurement issues over the 33rd America’s Cup match.

GGYC was the first to put forward a name to the New York Supreme Court. SNG, responded with Graham McKenzie (NZL) and the two of them mutually agreed the third member of the panel, David Tillett (AUS).

Bryan Willis is one of the most respected jurors in the sailing world. He has chaired International Juries at the Olympics, the Volvo Ocean Race and at the last three America’s Cups. He has also sat on the International Sailing Federation’s Racing Rules Committee for more than 30 years, chairing both it and the ISAF Racing Race Officials Committee.

We look forward to this resolution process moving forward in the coming days.

All three men are former members of America’s Cup juries, as required by Justice Kornreich. Bryan Willis and Graham McKenzie are now in New York.

Tom Ehman please dont think anyone serious cares what you say. You are a scab on the sport of sailing and have played the major part in dragging the AC down. I,m surprised that RC can live with you considering how he used to cringe when your name was mentioned.
Perhaps the odds are too high these days?

Sorry guys, I don't understand all your anger and frustration regarding Tom Ehman. But I am sure he feels honored since you find him worthy and important enough to make comments about him in this blog.

For the past 3 years I have used Sailing Valencia as my prime source of Cup information. Pierre does a great job at getting us information as it becomes available (or even before!)
I enjoy reading the comments from all and sundry. Until now I have not made a comment.

Having read these 3 comments I find it pathetic that this forum is used for personal attacks on individuals, who irrespective of what you or I may think of them are doing their jobs as best as they can under the circumstances - they are obviously NOT doing their job as you would like. If RC has a problem with TE then let him deal with it.

The author of such comments belittles themselves and this forum with such judgmental comments and is behaving in a way, which in my eyes, is worse than the person they are attacking.

If you are looking for professionalism and integrity why not start with yourself?

So I get it anyone can say what they like about The Swiss and their team. But BMWOR must be trearted with kid gloves as they are doing their jobs to the best of their abiity.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and it is up to Pierre to decide what is published on this site.

I couldn't agree more with 9:09 AM
anon.

Sure, everybody it entitled to have an opinion, but if one raises one's opinion publicly, please have the courtesy to do it in a civilized, respectful and polite manner. This has nothing to do with being a fan for either Alinghi or BMWOracle since both sides should treat each other respectfully.
Not too surprising to me, it is mostly the anons that cowardly use this forum for uncalled-for personal attacks.

well to say the least T.E. has no merit either than beeing RC & Larry sockpuppet to paraphrase the gentle qualifiers found on SA, and one that always contradict his previous claims. great guy really, very sporty & fairplay
