Alinghi 5 first sail in Valencia scheduled for Friday
Friday, weather allowing of course, could become a historic day in Valencia as Alinghi 5, the giant multihull Alinghi will race to defend the America's Cup, will be taken out for her maiden sail in the venue of the 33rd edition. After a day of gale force winds in Valencia that, unfortunately, resulted in the complete destruction of Alinghi's temporary sail loft, the forecast for Friday is far more encouraging and calls for a breeze that will top 15 knots.
Dock out is scheduled some time between 1pm and 2pm (Valencia time) but this will, obviously, depend on wind and wave conditions at that time. Valencia Sailing will obviously be there, so stay tuned for our report with photos and video. In the meantime you can check the security and safety instructions sent to the Spanish press, for anyone that would like to follow the first sail of Alinghi's giant catamaran.
