Alinghi airborne??

We already knew this edition of the America's Cup was going to feature the highest and most exotic technology available both offshore and ashore but if the picture we received today from one of our readers turns out to be true, it now appears the battle will also be taking place in the sky.

According to our reader two powered hang gliders started from the Alinghi base on Sunday afternoon. Here is one of them and we apologize for the picture quality but it was again snapped with an iPhone. They looked to be outfitted with some serious technology that look liked windspeed measuring equipment and radar.

We'll have more info on Monday.
