Alinghi shore crew work on Alinghi 5, prepare new sail loft

While the boatbuilders are busy modifying Alinghi 5 on one end of the Port America's Cup, at the other end, right at the entrance of the canal, construction of the new sail loft tent has just been completed. When we visited the tent on Monday morning the external structure was finished but there were no sails yet visible.

Those sails will certainly be part of the talks the Defender is holding tomorrow Tuesday with BMW Oracle in Singapore. Other talks were held, allegedly, between Alinghi and the city of Valencia last Friday. It is rumored that Ernesto Bertarelli, Alinghi owner, came to Valencia on Thursday in order to personally take part in high-level negotiations regarding the non-sailing part of the 33rd America's Cup match. We have no information whether the talks were fruitful and it is speculated that if any agreement was reached it should be made public this week.

No wonder Oracle fears Valencia's America Cup harbour entrance passage: How do they remove "wing area" at a decent breeze with abaft wind? This is why a sailing boat has sails and not wings....

7:45pm - the AC is about the best in design & building of boats from their countries.

SNG has no right in the Deed, the rules or laws to tell GGYC where their base or moorage needs to be. Especially when it impacts the safety their team, it's boat, it's supporters & others.

You guys got to get over the whining of a spoilt silver spooned brat who can't within the Deed, laws & rules have his way as it's called cheating.
