What is this?

Greetings from cold and windy Valencia. Yesterday's snowfall already seems to be a distant memory and the venue of the 33rd America's Cup woke under blue and clear skies and a great sunshine. Nevertheless, conditions are far from benign. A very strong westerly breeze is whipping the city, something that will, undoubtedly, make the life of Alinghi's BMW Oracle's shore crews difficult today. We will have photos as well as a very interesting interview shortly. In the meantime, can you guess what these people are carrying in the photo?

Is one of the 8 flaps composing the wingsail, under the tent in the DoGpound at commercial port of Valencia. Alinghi would like to have a similar one !!!

...well there´s a difference between constructing something and repairing something that got broken in transit ... meantime they can get that 3M drag reduction film applied to the hulls ...

repair is ok in VLC prod=vided they only rebuild what existed prior to despatch from SD. If they add material to reinforce the defect over and above what was originally constructed in USA then that would NOT be permissible according to thier OWN COMPLAINT against Alinghi re sails !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh and by the way - is it an act of CONSTRUCTION to substantially modify the drag characteristics of the hydro interface for the hulls the way they are doing ??????????????????????

This photo is from San Diego. Nobody has been wearing shorts and t-shirts in VLC for the past week or more - it's freezing.
